Angelo Melendez III
-
Angelo graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English from Arcadia University in Glenside, Pennsylvania. He hails his experience there as a major influence for "living deliberately." He later graduated from Drexel University with a Master's degree in Public Communication in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He credits Drexel University for providing him with learning experiences that give him the ability to effectively communicate topics ranging from business operations to urban ecology.
-
Angelo served as a Military Working Dog Handler in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 2013 and often looks back at his service as "the best job he ever had." Until he experienced teaching middle school English, that is. After gathering professional experiences in project management, new home production, and home renovations, Angelo pursued a long-lived desire to teach.
-
When Angelo's daughter, Sophie, was born, his vision for teaching evolved into SumDay. His vision is to create an organization that facilitates learning with experiences outside, in a garden, in green spaces, or in the woods.
Angelo believes that SumDay will benefit students in classrooms by empowering them to make positive changes in their communities. Those changes, in turn, will contribute to the health of local ecosystems.
